Pakistan : On the horseback to the roof of the world : Shandur Pass 3800 m

Shandur top is a wide-open green plateau (20km long) filled with lakes and streams originated from nearby glaciers. Here you will have the best opportunity to ride freely amongst yaks and goatherds surrounded by snow capped peaks. Here, our camp will be set up by one of the lakes that surround the polo ground, and at night you will be able to admire the most incredible star-studded night sky you have ever seen. The annual polo tournament "the SHANDUR POLO " is played (normally 7-9th July) by the best teams of Chitral and Gilgit valleys. Every year thousands of people from the surrounding regions come here to watch their favorite game. Throughout the festival, where one would usually find lonely shepherds with their herds, there is an authentic Asian bazaar, with folk music and dance every night, giving you the chance to meet people from most of the ethnic groups of north Pakistan.
