Threatened by the loss of their rainforest habitat, years of political unrest and an escalating bushmeat trade, bonobos are in serious trouble. Working alongside the African Wildlife Foundation, this tour is designed not only to track the elusive bonobo in the rich rainforests of the DRC but also to meet the people who live here, offering a few select clients the chance to experience the adventure of a lifetime.

DAY 1:
Arrival and rendezvous at Trinidad airport. Overland transfer to Puerto Los Puentes ( 16 km west of Trinidad ). We embark on the Reina de Enín and Stara navigating downriver on the Mamore river - the largest Amazon tributary in Bolivia . As we start traveling north, you will be in one of the truly most remote areas left in our world. Wildlife sightings increase, primary forest remains, and the native people still harbor a curiosity about us. You may sense that you traveled back in time. Arrival near San Renato. This is an indigenous settlement of only six Yurakare families. We will have time to meet with the inhabitants before we go on a horse ride through the forest. We will then arrive at Estancia El Carmen, a small cattle ranch bordering with the pampa grasslands. Meet with the local cowboys and carry on horseback riding for about one hour along the savanna or pampa mojeña. As the sun goes down we will then return to the Reina de Enín for dinner. Overnight on board.

Enjoy a cocktail at the quay at Tuan Chau before boarding to Emeraude, a wonderful replica of one of the classic steamship of the colonical era of French Indochina. With 37 luxurious air-conditioned cabins, a restaurant, two bar and a sundeck this is the ultimate Halong bay experience. Lunch is served on board at 13.00. whilst cruising on the emeral green water of the Bay try a traditional viet namese or foot massage as an optional extra.
