Diving the Cocos (Keeling) Islands

Diving the Cocos (Keeling) Islands

Diving the Cocos (Keeling) Islands is a year round activity.

The water temperature averages between 26°C during the cooler months of July through to October and 29°C during the warmer months of December through to May. Occasionally, a colder thermacline may drop the water temperature down to a "chilly" 25°C!

Visibility on most dive sites averages 20-30 metres. Some sites where the lagoon flushes out into the Indian Ocean may cause the visibility to drop to 15 metres. Most of the dive sites are suitable to any level of experience.

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands have steep drop-offs that allows those divers who are qualified and/or suitably experienced to venture deeper than the less experienced diver. Having the luxury of multi-level diving ensures everyone is able to enjoy the same site and similar experiences with the marine creatures.

Cocos (Keeling) Islands is also a wonderful destination for the photographer.

The waters surrounding the atoll teem with spectacular marine life, sharks, turtles, pelagics, unusual hybrids, macro creatures, pristine coral gardens and beautiful mammals.

Everyone needs a holiday including us. Please be advised that Cocos Dive will be closed for business from 24th October, 2008 until 28th November, 2008 inclusive. Sorry no diving available during this period

Solomon Islands: The Dive Sites

Solomon Islands: The Dive Sites

Gizo is renowned for having the most diverse and exciting diving to be found anywhere in the world: from World War II wrecks to numerous offshore reefs, spectacular coral formations, plummeting walls, manta rays and abundant marine life.

All dives are boat dives. Water temperature averages 28C. Visibility is usually upwards of 20 metres. Troublesome currents are rare. (All divers must show certification cards.)

Toa Maru

A twenty minute boat ride from Gizo is one of the South Pacific's most popular diveable WWII shipwrecks. This reasonably intact Japanese transport ship of some 140m (450') length is lying on its starboard site. It was run aground after suffering damage from an American attack. The dive starts at an easy 7 metres and slants to 37 metres. Interesting artefacts adorn this vessel that sunk before it could be unloaded. Some of the trinkets include saki bottles, medical supplies, office equipment and rounds of ammunition. The larger objects include bombs, a motorbike, a type 21 tank. For the more experienced divers a guided tour inside the wreck to the bridge, crew quarters, engine room and medical supply room is a must do adventure.

Diving in Niue : Whale Interactions

Diving in Niue : Whale Interactions

Humpback whales come to Niue to breed and calve every year between July and October.

We run trips to interact with these gentle giants and spinner dolphins. Every interaction is different, but snorkellers have spent up to half an hour floating just metres away from a mother and calf - others prefer to watch from the boat, getting an impressive view of their breaches and tail dives. .

Trips run in the afternoons and last approx. 3 hours. Minimum of 4 people required to run the trips.

Diving in Niue

Diving in Niue

The island:
Niue is the world's largest uplifted coral atoll. It's an uncrowded, un-touristy slice of Polynesia - located in the middle of the South Pacific near Tonga and Samoa. The island has a population of around 1,500 and caters for small numbers of visitors who are looking for a relaxed, nature based holiday.

The diving:
One of the island's greatest features is the incredibly clear water surrounding it. Visibility can reach up to 80 metres, and rarely falls below 30 metres. Diving on Niue is easy yet rewarding, with an interesting mix of caverns and pristine hard coral reef to explore, and a wide selection of tropical marine life to discover.
